We found this place after stopping in Villahormes for a drink whilst trying to get data reception. We drove back here a couple nights later from Avín for dinner. The restaurant is situated in a weird position, down some back roads, but if you use Google maps it's easy to find. The food itself was okay, the pizzas are all homemade artisinal style. However, when we were there, a lot of the pizzas on the menu weren't available. I'm not a big meat eater so I wanted to order the vegetarian pizza which wasn't available, but the woman said I could order mushroom alone. You cannot personalise the pizzas normally so this was an accommodating gesture from her part. The pizzas are very expensive too and you can only pay by card if you order over a certain value something to keep in mind. The drinks were averagely priced, I ordered a vodka and orange, and it came as orange kaz and vodka, not pure orange juice;slightly strange. They have a huge beer list and a good amount of gins on offer, which I would've ordered instead if I knew about it. Overall, nice place with quaint outside seating, but quite overpriced for what it is.
Unexpectedly, in the middle of a tiny village, we found the most exquisite pizzas as good and tasty as you will find in the best trattoria in Italy. The imported basic ingredients plus the super fresh local veggies and meats, combined in a superb way by the master pizza chef takes the Asturian pizza in the “Camino de Santiago” to the highest level. Surprised by the excellence of the pizza, we tried the burgers. They told us the meat was coming from Galicia and was of aged meat instead of young cows as is the norm around. We like the meat extra rare and this means you cannot have it frozen and the quality must be good in order to be eatable. We were surprised again, the meat was excellent and the BBQ perfect. Visiting Villahormes just for this delicious food is, without doubt, wort the while. I will go back again.
Las mejores pizzas de Asturias de lejos. Impresionantes. Masa fina y sabores deliciosos.
