Whilst we continue to miss The Glasshouse (La T's sister now closed) this is a happy consolation. Chef has moved here a lot of staff too so food service are top notch. It's a little bigger so atmosphere not quite so cosy.
We had a family meal here recently, which was wonderful. It's and old fashioned restaurant in way, with excellent service, all of the staff were superb. Thr food isn't classically overdone French, but is influenced by, so has a more modern feel. It was all excellent, from the starters (scallops, ceviche, soup), the mains (fish, beef, vegetarian), to desserts (brownies and a fabulous tarte-tartin for two). Portions don't feel big, but given they are rich, I felt they were perfectly sized. With regard to food, we had a vegan as part of our party, and having notified the restaurant ahead of time of this, they made sure there was an option, which got just as much attention as the regular dishes. The wine list is ridiculously long, and expensive, but if you're in a place like this, eating great food, you might as well have a good wine. The sommelier is excellent and will give good advice, and keep the cost down if you ask. Is this an expensive restaurant? Yes, no doubt about it, but is it worth it? Also a Yes. It's a treat, but a lovely one.
Lovely set menu lunch. Good selection and every course was excellent. Tables nicely spaced out so a good blend of atmosphere and space. Very helpful sommelier on hand to help an amateur such as myself.
A great experience, great wine and great food!! Lovely staff who even lent us an umbrella for the walk home!
