I was torn on how many stars to leave spice of night, my wife and I went to get a curry to try to naturally encourage my wife into labour, unfortunately the spice was not strong enough to do this, however the food poisoning we received the next day was bad enough our baby stopped moving and she had to be induced instead. So I suppose our goal was reached one way or another…
One of the best Indians I’ve ever had, moved to Barnes 4 months ago and have been almost 10 times. Lovely staff too!
We are regular patrons of Spice of Night and have been for over 10 years. This restaurant never disappoints us. The service is excellent and the food is delicious. They have a diverse menu and are willing to help guide you through it and make recommendations. The curries are well-prepared and the breads are always fresh. The tandoori dishes are especially amazing. Don't miss out on trying the lamb chops!
We have to agree with what we have read of a recent review, as we were in this restaurant, as a couple, and only started on our main courses, with sides, bread and drinks, by around 9.00pm, and we just felt hassled! And it was if eyes were on us, by the main man behind the bar and one other, who seemed to be both a in the kitchen and on the floor, so maybe chef/waiter? Whatever, we had gone to this restaurant to enjoy some food, and relax, and found lights going out behind the bar, then front facade lights went out! We were waiting for them to turn the main lights off, next! This is so bad, and we should have complained, but just felt awkward. The food is not that good, and what we had seemed to be so quickly brought to our table, that it must have been pre-prepared and simply microwaved! And, by the way, this is NOT Indian, this, I am sure, is Bangladeshi. Surely, as with Cheddar cheese, Champagne, and Cornish Pasties, we now need some form of legal term for 'Indian ', to make sure we are actually eating authentic Indian food. We won 't be returning, as this is just a poor place, and the way they treat people with closing time, is appalling! And with two beers, at £5.25 each, which is just ludicrous for bottled Cobra, the bil was not cheap, with a couple of sides, rice and a naan. It was £55.00 for two! We would have been better off going to one of the twee little Barnes bistros, for value, and service!
