The meal was literally 3 small sprigs of broccoli and 3 small pieces of red mullet with 2 fried ‘ not quite sure what pieces of veg’ and a jug of juice . The plate was large and the meal luke warm . Possibly next time , charge a little more and throw in a few potatoes or similar
Because of William Drabble in this club, we came to this bistro. The tapas was an interesting variety. Enjoyed it though not particularly memorable. The service was good. The place is not very large; not sure whether they take reservations. You don't have to be a member of the club to eat here. This is a place I would try once but unlikely to return.
Bar hes a fantastic selection of wines and spirits! What is great is the selection of different distillates! Sometimes highly unusual. Very good professional service.
Again treated by my sister for lunch (she does keep trying)! A very small restaurant pushed into two small rooms on the ground floor. I think the bar areas has actually more space than the restaurant rooms. This was a set menu with a choice of two/three courses and a choice of two items per course. The tables are beautifully set, lovely glassware, linen and cutlery and the waiters are charming to a fault. Not a hint of obsequiousness or over zealousness from any of them. The wine waiter was absolutely charming and we had decided to have wine matched with each course. I do think that the quantities provided with no offer of a top up was fairly mean for the price. The food was absolutely delightful from a really lovely pate for the amuse bouche, which I would have prererred to have more of and make it a starter, delicious. We both opted for the cauliflower starter which was tasty but needed a contrast just a bit too much cauliflower. I then has the Sea Bass with a vegetable salad and my sister had the Pigs Cheeks. She insisted (as she always does) that I try the Pigs Cheeks before I had my fish. They were a bit chewy in a good sauce, but I like mine braised to death. The fish was delicious cooked perfectly and the vegetable salad was a very good accompaniament but would have liked some potato or equivalent to finish the plate. The desserts were very generous, mine being a Banana Tarte Tatin with a caramel sauce, delicious but so sweet I just couldn 't finish it. My sister had the Passionfruit Souffle which looked stunning and they added a small just of chocolate sauce to pour down the middle. She commented that it was delicious but the chocolate was overkill and a good passionfruit sauce might have been better. Good coffee and the real treat but we really could manage much was the petit fours. Served in a Russian doll style ball which opened up into three with absolutely unctious treats. I think the real star was the Coconut Marshamallows, simple but devine. I think the diners need more space. The bill for two £150.00 just a bit pricey for repeat business but if someone else was paying for it all, I would definitely go back.
Great experience! It was fun and we felt very comfortable. The servers were very kind and respectful! Absolutely great!
