Came here a year ago and it was a pub about to close. New landlord, quality tefurb and great staff have transformed this place. Totally recommend.
Traditional pub grub done well! This pub is open early for the lunch crowd with 2 for 1 lunch specials. Dinner patrons won't be disappointed either with generous portions and gracious prices.
We visited here Saturday night on their opening weekend as we had relatives in the area. It is now a pub that will do good family pub food soon we were informed. The new landlord and landlady are a very friendly couple and introduced themselves as Malcolm and Margaret, they made time to speak to everyone and make you feel valued as a customer. The drinks were well priced and the bar staff were polite and friendly, I gather from the conversation with the new landlords that the place had a cloudy reputation in the past which they seemed determined to shed and turn it into a family pub and community hub . The place looks brand new inside and has obviously been fully refurbished. The band they had booked were entertaining and we felt comfortable even with our 2 year old with us. Won't hesitate to visit again when next in the area.
We were out for a walk and called into this public house for a quick drink before heading back to our hotel. Nice friendly people running this pub. Football game was in full swing when we arrived but got served quickly. Atmosphere was good. Only down side was the general cleanliness of the tables and chairs which looked as though they could do with a good wash or at least a dust. We didn't eat here so cannot comment on the food, but what we saw of others eating, it looked fine.
