My issue with the honey walnut stuff is that the sauce still got bits of sugar, it's not mixed thoroughly. It helps that it's close to my house and that they give free Chinese donuts if you spend over $60, I think. My family likes this place a lot!
Best Chinese food in the area!! Love the interior decor and design. Everything is very modern, and clean. Overall it was a great experience with even better service!! Portion sizes were excellent as I was barely able to finish my share of the Combination Chow Mein, Honey Walnut Shrimp, and General Tso Chicken! Definitely a fun place to chat and hang out with friends while eating some delicious food! I highly recommend China Cafe to anyone who's looking for authentic Chinese food!
I always order items under Grandma Specials on the menu. These are authentic southwestern Chinese dishes, very tasty! I especially like Boiled beef or fish in chili paste sauce and braised pork.
This is a delivery review. 3 stars OK wouldn't mind ordering again, also wouldn't mind trying other places instead. Food showed up as quickly as any other place can get it here, which is credit to them. (Yes, I know slower deliveries are sometimes the driver's fault, but we're setting that aside here since it was on time). Everything was cooked the way you'd want it--vegetables still crunchy, meats still juicy, nothing overdone. Some things traveled better than others. We ate all of everything, either at lunch or later as leftovers. Nothing was really bad. BBQ Pork When you crave it, ya gotta try it. It's a childhood favorite for me. They cut it a little thicker and season it a bit sweeter than most places. Still has that snowy white/lipstick red color combo. The mustard was super watery. Cho Cho Beef Not on many menus, by this or by its other names. So, that's cool! It was dry, kinda on the sweet side, and came with no dipping sauces. $12 for maybe 8-10 bites of beef...not the best value, not the worst. Eggplant in Garlic Sauce Mushy, under-seasoned, and a bit on the sweet side. We went to the fridge, got chili pastes, and drenched this. Made it moderately spicy. Can't imagine what it tastes like without that tuneup, unless it loses a lot when cooling off (unlikely). Green Beans with Pork Not much pork. Awesome crunchy beans. Also drenched in chili paste, just to wake it up a bit. Hot Spicy Shrimp Not exactly hot n spicy. Also not exactly dry-fried, which the photo shows in the online menu. It's breaded and fried in oil, so, it doesn't travel as well as dry-fried shrimp do. Bummer. Pleasant mild flavors, a bit on the sweet side. Bottom line, these guys sure know what they're doing, but they've chosen to dial back most seasonings in favor of a more sugary flavor profile. I'm happy to shove this food into my face if I'm starving but this isn't the kind of stuff that sticks in your mind as especially tasty.
Best Chinese restaurant in the area. Started going there when they first reopened with new ownership. Now lunch hours are almost a full house. Lunch and dinner specials are great! To go orders are ready quickly. Combination fried rice and chow mein are my faves. They are not stingy with ingredients.
