Le Florentin - Lyon

We stopped here for lunch. A cute restaurant in the heart of Lyon's 6th arrondissement. The food was delicious, pumpkin veloute and jamon iberico with green salad for starters, pork belly with potatoes and an amazing lamb with vegetables that simply melted in your mouth....Crepe suzette and cafe gourmand for desserts and with a pot of Cote du Rhone 58 euros for two. Excellent choice.

We stopped for a lunch as the menu looked good for us (we don't eat meat/fowl). I had the veloute and my husband had the prawn salad. Both were very good. For main we both had the salmon with peppers and green beans. Well cooked...and delicious. We'd had enough at that point and a third course would just have been too much as portion sizes were ample. It wasn't overly busy and while the front of house team were pleasant it was just lacking a little bit in atmosphere as it was relatively quiet. Having said that there are clearly locals who eat there often and who get a very warm welcome. I would recommend it on the basis of the food and the general decor is very appealing and looks pretty new.

I have now eaten twice in this restaurant with friends from the USA, and it was a wonderful experience both times. The food is fresh from the morning march and well prepared. Nothing is too heavy, and the cook could adjust the...Menu for my milk allergy. The staff is friendly and it is a warm ambience.

This restaurant is located in my old neighborhood and I would recommend it to everyone. I visited several times for dinner (not for lunch) and had a variety of dishes. I am a serious cook and can testify that Le Florentin consistently delivers with good quality... and excellent presentation. The atmosphere is refined, but not excessively formal. The table service is very good and attentive. I never had a bad meal here. It's a bit out of the way for most tourists to Lyon that seem in the Presqu'île kongregate, but Le Florentin is a short transit trip or a pleasant walk over the Rhône for a visit. Very recommended.
