I was thinking very skeptically about how long it was going to take. As I sat there I noticed how quick customer turnover was. It was all very quick and efficient. Much quicker than I expected my food was in front of me. Before I dug in, once again I was skeptical about how this was going to taste(I was having a rough day and expecting the worst at every turn). It was Awesome! I devoured my meal, paid and was out the door for what must be record time during the lunch rush in Madison. I haven't been there around dinner time, but I know I'll be having lunch there again soon.
Cold rain dampens your soul and you desperately need hot, delicious nourishment. From the gloom shines promise of savory comfort food.... Saigon! The house special pho is a wonderfully meaty rich broth packed full of exotic yet homey tastes. Rice noodles await beneath to complete this addictively yummy dish. Many more treasures await discovery on their menu and this was only my first time here. Can't wait to return!
My husband and I have happily eaten here for several years. I've had numerous noodle soups and they are always tasty and fresh.
Definitely a treat!. I love Saigon! this is in no way a fancy place but the food is unbelievable! I greatly limit the amount of grains in my diet so eating here is a treat in more ways than one. When I 'm really feeling like rewarding myself I will head to Saigon for a clay pot full of sizzling rice and tasty morsels of meat, seafood and vegetables. The trick with the clay pot is let it sit without disturbing the rice on the bottom until you can 't stand it. It 's worth the wait though, you 'll be rewarded with rice that is slightly crunchy on one side with just a bit of caramelization and plenty of tastebud happiness. My other go to at Saigon is the Pho, whichever variety I choose for the day, there 's something fun about being able to customize my bowl with the jalapenos, basil, lime and other goodies and get exactly what I want. Don 't get me wrong, all Pho is not created equal, there has to be a good base and Saigon has it. Their 'broth ' is not lacking in flavor on its own but it is nowhere near salty and still remains light with the rice noodles slightly firm and thankfully not pasty or falling apart. It 's sometimes a coin toss to decide which to have.
Excellent!!! Rice clay pots are my favorite: super-heated clay pots filled with rice and your choice of meat and veggies. Second favorite is the soup! They've got a couple great soups that come in amazing portions!
