Sona Coffee Deli - Madrid

No one likes hotel room coffee...which is why we always search out a local cafe wherever we stay. This cute little spot is around the corner from a decent hotel and serves up tradiational coffee and espresso along with a some flavorful specialy drinks.

Oy.We tried the matcha it tasted like drinking straight up syrup. And after seeing some of their back stock it’s clear that it is probably Costco matcha. Costco matcha is disgusting and 90% sugar and then they added syrup on top of that.We spent $6 on trash and felt dooped.We also saw a bag of Costco beans in the back… so that was extremely concerning.As a former specialty barista this is gross.If I’m paying $6 for a 12oz matcha I expect something better than Costco.The space was cute but small and extremely quiet. Felt like you couldn’t even whisper in there.Overall this coffee shop feels a business person who made a coffee shop and not someone who actually knows anything about coffee and cares about the product they are making.

Fun and bright space to work or relax. Not too many spots with outlets, though. They have fun little knick knacks for sale as well.

El mejor matcha que he probado (y con leche normal). Era más dulce que cualquiera que haya probado, pero en el buen sentido. ¡Ojalá hubiera pedido una talla más grande! El ambiente era algo industrial pero acogedor. Perdí una estrella solo porque el baño era algo que espero no volver a visitar jajaja.
