Recommend the boil sauce with tartaric acid sauce and one side curry sauce for the chips and of course, make everything in malt vinegar. Enjoy the cakes and other offers. Brits belonged and operated. Definitely a hidden gem.
We heard many good things about The Chipper and we went there for the first time tonight. It didn't disappoint us. The four of us ordered 3 meals. Everything was delicious and portions were great so that we did not even finish all the frits. I would definitely recommend this place.
What a fabulous setup! A happy find for us looking for somewhere haggis and I am so glad we visited. The menu is great, the chips (Fries for my American cousins) are cooked for perfection and their haggis were fed sharply and straight from the deep fat freezer (perfect). I would definitely recommend this place for all British who want a taste of home or for locals who want to try some “foreign” tariff lol. From Covid perspective (January 2021) they keep the place clean and also wear masks. There is also a selection of indoor and outdoor seats; all right.
A very good place for fish chips, although I think something is overpriced. The taste and quality of food is similar to traditional offers from Britain or Ireland. However, no comparison to offers found in some spots in Australia. The shop has become more popular over time, and from what I can say, the portion sizes have reduced somewhat. This was certainly the case with the part of the fish I received during the last two visits (has improved during the last visit). This time, the chips were a hint of boiled. It's all freshly cooked. In summary, a good place for traditional fish and chips.
Fresh and Delicious! Fish is hand battered, made-to-order. Had the haddock and cod suppers, scotch pie and mushy peas. Prefer the haddock's flakey texture over the thicker cod fillet, but both were tasty. Really enjoyed the thick cut chips fried just right. The mushy peas were warm and, well, mushy ; and that's a good thing;yummy. The scotch pie was crisp and meaty. Friendly and clean environment with a simple menu. We will be back to try the chicken curry pie among other things.
