I have visited Mammoth 3 times (twice this season 2023) and each time has been amazing. Mammoth has great lift service, the blend of Piste and Off-Piste skiing is perfect, and the grooming is well done. Ski patrol and operations ensure that safety is paramount for guests of the mountain.I want to mention what I truly appreciated during a visit this season. I have been working hard to elevate my skiing the past few years and to make that happen, I have been taking group lessons. I did an advanced/intermediate lesson at the Main lodge and Kevin Kuljerich was the instructor. He asked me what I wanted to work on and evaluated my skiing on several runs. He then put me through 5 skill drills and worked me me in tuning up those skills. Since that lesson I have skied approximately 12 more days. Those few hours spent with Kevin have definitely paid off. I am a more confident skier, I can ski a variety of terrain and conditions at level of speed, control, and enjoyment that I had not had prior to my session with Kevin.I recommend skiing with Kevin and request him if possible.
This was my first time at mammoth and it was a wonderful experience!! Amazing trails and really fast lifts. The lines were pretty long at the base and the backside, but the singles line was really fast on all the other lifts. Lots of terrain variety and runs, makes for a great time for all ski levels. Amazing views at the top too!! Highly recommend going here for your ski trip :
Worst operated mountain on the west coast. Ticket prices as high as Vail, with so few lifts running because of understaffing, it has less accessible terrain than Mountain High. Be prepared to spend 1+ hour in each lift line. Don't waste your time asking a liftie or staff if/when lifts are going to open, you'll be met with blank stares because nobody knows anything. It's Hee this way for at least the past two seasons and it's not going to get better. They DO NOT CARE how bad their service is, they already have your lift ticket money and you've driven all the way up there and there's nowhere else to go, unless you want to drive another 2.5 hours to Tahoe, which I would strongly suggest because they have resorts which actually know how to run lifts and care if their patrons are happy.
A weekend well spent at the best ski/snowboarding mountain in California! I spend several weekends a year snowboarding here and just love the terrain. The coverage here is quite good throughout the season. This weekend was the busiest I've ever seen with crazy long lines. Lots of snow impacts the lifts and also brings riders to the mountain. The ticket prices have gone up drastically, but by the amount of people out there it must not be a big deal. There are several lodges to stop at throughout the day. McCoy, being in the middle of the mountain is usually my go to for a break and quick bite with The Mill a close 2nd based on location. Although there is a decent amount of parking, lots are always full early on weekends or days right after a storm. Luckily there us a great bus system that runs around town, to various parking lots and to the base lodges to catch lifts.
