Thai'd Up - MAMMOTH LAKES

I deeply regret ordering food from this place, and I hope this review can either help the restaurant improve or help others to avoid it. I felt like I was fighting my gag reflex trying to soldier through my meal of Pad Thai, Tom Ka, and 'summer ' rolls . I 've never eaten food so unpalatable and strange tasting. It was so bad I questioned if perhaps I had caught the COVID and was losing my sense of taste. Alas, it was simply bad tasting food. If you 've any appreciation for Thai cuisine, avoid this place or you will be sorely disappointed. To the restaurant 's credit, the food was delivered quickly and was well-packed.

Not much flavor, unlike any other Thai food I have eaten, both in the US and in Thailand. The cashier told me that the owner learned to cook in Thailand, so we gave the restaurant a try. We ordered yellow curry with steamed tofu, pad thai with chicken, and pad see ew with beef. The yellow curry had plenty of veggies, which we really enjoyed. It was not soupy (as it is at most Thai restaurants in the US), but the curry that I have had in Thailand was not soupy. The Thai tea was good. However, over all, the food had basically no flavor. The flavor that it did have tasted neither like American Thai food nor like Thai food in Thailand. The flavor wasn't bad; there wasn't much to it.
