We had dinner on a Thursday night. It was one of the restaurants on the recommended on the list given by our hotel. Not a single local there. Only tourists like us. The sashimi was good but the tempura was really sub-standard. Items on the menu were not too expensive but the restaurant ripped us off by serving us canned fruits (they said fruits for dessert) and charging us 600Yen per person for it. I personally wouldn't recommend this restaurant.
I found this place by chance in Matsumoto. The owner is an amazing chef. His specialty is actually sashimi and tempura. I got the set dinner and got to sample a bit of everything. Just an amazing place, with great local sake selection and also the interior of the restaurant is quite impressive. Highly recomend it, they also havr English menus.
Excellent Kaiseki meal. More than reasonable price for the quality of preparation
This restaurant was recommended by lonely planet travel guide. Ordered what seemed to be a higher end meal sashimi and tempura with rice soup hot sake. Sashimi portion was on the smaller end, the tempura has been outshined in the local train station, and the soup was hot but not so flavorful. We spent about $40 for two, and based on some light window shopping that could go a lot further elsewhere in Matsumoto. We went for dinner I've heard lunch is a better value.
