Feedback gevenThe service was friendly and we chose to sit outside in the laneway where there was ample seating. The interior had limited seating and lacked atmosphere, but the staff were extremely welcoming and we enjoyed some drinks during happy hour. The menu offers intriguing Mauritian cuisine, which I have yet to try, so I may have to return to Bistro du Peuple in order to give it a go and see if it suits my taste.
If you haven't experienced Mauritian cuisine before, this restaurant offers some interesting dishes to try. The Dholl puri, priced at $12, is a delicious flatbread served with curry. The Vindaye, priced at $14, features tuna that is cooked through, resulting in some tougher pieces, but with a nice flavor and roti to accompany it. The fritters are small, crunchy, bite-size pieces. The venue is small and can be quite loud on busy nights.
Found this lovely place in a small alley had $6 beers to start with and got me hooked!!! <br/ <br/ Had squid tentacles, Mac n cheese blocks and chicken ribs to eat... AMAZING!!! Everyone needs to try them!!!<br/ <br/ Lovely atmosphere sitting outside, watching the world go by...<br/ <br/ Come and experience this for yourself... you won’t regret it!!!
A true hidden gem of melbourne! Had the lamb burger and was amazing and will definitely be back and the service by everyone was great.. thanks guys!!
Cozy little restaurant hidden in one of Melbourne's laneways. I only went there because my partner is Mauritian and I wanted to try their cuisine. I can't say I disliked any if the dishes, but nothing was really outstanding for me. Service was friendly and attentive. Overall would be back!
