Lovely quaint French cafe offering beautifully handmade pies, sausage rolls, quiches and more! Beautiful pastry work on the Quiche Lorraine, one of my favourite go-to’s. The cafe offers a wondeful location near the CBD as well as offering quite a number of desserts, also, their cheesecake being my favourite!
I felt like a king sitting and eating my lunch, feeding my son his lunch, in the sun, on a weekday! This placed oozes sophistication and authenticity. The owner (I presume) sat outside and chatted to me for a while and the service from the waitresses was excellent. Their coffee was very good and the food did not disappoint either.This mille-feuille was the best French-style vanilla slice I've tasted to date. Every mouthful was pleasurable; crisp, messy, creamy, eggy, sweet and satisfying. The custard was exactly how I like it; rich, smooth, eggy and laced with vanilla bean. The pastry was also very tasty and what is expected of a French Patisserie, though the middle layer was soggy as a result of swimming in custard. I especially liked the decorative flaked pastry edging, a classy touch. I will definitely be back for another, plus maybe a box of assorted éclairs.
My fantasy? Badoir sparkling water, slice of lemon and a pot of tea for my compatriot. That's what we've eaten here and just about all we've eaten here, but I've got to say: these guys really delivered. Quick service and good location near Fawkner park make this a good stop on the way there OR on the way back. <br/ <br/ Food here is expensive and that is the main reason we never ordered any. Cest la vie ;
Close to the corner of Punt Toorak road is this 20 year old cafe. We were there for lunch, it wasn't packed but had a few tables full of people having a long lunch. It was quiet with French music playing in the back ground. We ordered quiches- quiche Lorraine Chevre pumpkin $10.50 each with Badoit sparkling mineral water $4.50 each for dessert two pastries coffees. The food was delicious, service fantastic we will definitely go again. <br/ <br/ For more photos follow us on Instagram @splitthebill
