The beef burgers were as dry as anything the buns were toasted black and just looked horrible fish and chips greasy peas look dried up. We would like our money back. But what is the point in asking. The restaurant by the open far was lovely and warm But at the back was freezing using our baby blankets and coats to keep us warm.,The large table by us head all there coats on and the waitress had a woolly scarf on I think it said it all
We ordered the Baked Camembert for starter, Steak frites and Chicken Burger. Really well prepared. Excellent service. Interior was very pleasant.
Sadly I returned nearly a year later and found the same rude waiter/manager (Grey hair foreign accent) and he was exactly as before. The Sunday roast was terrible. The roast beef was the worst I’ve experienced in my life. It was cut so thick almost chunky chip size, it was so tough hard and almost grey in colour. The food was cold. The big Yorkshire pudding on top was dry and literally crisp like. The veg was under cooked it really was a vile meal. It was as cold as ever in the actual restaurant. The fire was barely alight. It is so sad. Last night we were out with fwiw DS who said they were at the Gardeners 3 weeks ago for Sunday roast. Sent it back as it was cold. Returned minutes later with it had been microwaved including the mustard on the plate. They were not charged for the meal and the lady advised them they were not the first to complain. Shall I bother returning in a year again. I think not.
We visited the Gardeners Arms yesterday evening for my birthday meal. We chose to sit outside as it was a lovely evening which meant you had to order at the bar as opposed to waiting staff which was fine. We had three courses and the food was very average for the cost, my partner had the crab mayonnaise to start and the bread had obviously been left out as it was dry and hard to the touch. My main course of fish and chips was very pleasant however my partner's lamp chops only consisted of one and the dauphinoise potatoes had not a sniff of cream. However it was a staff member's behaviour that shocked me the most. Seated across the way were four people and it came across that they were local/regulars and therefore this member of staff knew them. Therefore when conversing with them she was having a laugh and swearing loudly completely her perogative but quite unprofessional in front of other customers within ear shot. But it was when she collected our finished cheeseboard I was left speechless. After collecting it, she stopped at their table and offered the left overs to them, which they proceeded to feed to their two dogs...…… We left. Never to return.
We visited this pub several weeks ago and were so pleased with the attention of the staff and the standard of our snack lunch. Yesterday big dissappointment, indifferent staff attention, food okay but but not great, atmosphere, temperatuer cold and no ambience. Do you have to be local or spend a fortune to be welcome here, not a good experience. If this had been our first visit wouldn't be returning.
