Best Ethiopian in CT hands down. Tried plenty in NYC and this beats many of them as well. So lucky to have this nearby. A true gem.
Sooo delicious and very thrilled that there is Ethiopian food closer to us! The flavors were delicious and the staff was lovely. We felt the serving size was a bit small for 2 orders of the vegan platter.
Fantastic Ethiopian food! One of the best Ethiopian restaurants in the entire US! I’m not from Ethiopia, but it is my favorite food, so whenever I’m in a new city, I try the Ethiopian restaurants. I always get a veggie combo and meat combo to try many dishes. I’ve been to Ethiopian restaurants in San Francisco, Berkeley, Oakland CA, Orlando FL, Boston MA, Seattle WA, Chicago IL, and New Jersey. So I can say that Abyssinian in Middletown Connecticut is one of the best!! The Key Wot beef in red berbere spices was incredibly flavorful and my favorite, the Kik Alicha yellow lentils was a close second. Gomen collard greens were tasty and not bitter, Shiro chickpea paste was delicious. Misir wot, beef tibs, and potato were all great. I liked it so much I ordered two platters to go! Service was also fast and friendly. Solomon is very friendly and we had great chats, and his wife makes all the amazing dishes!
Abyssinia’s food is SOOOO GOOD!!!! This restaurant has the BEST Ethiopian food I’ve had in CT and can’t stop thinking about it! I got a to go order of the Tibise with the two sides of Misir Wot red and Alcha Keke yellow and a special treat of the Kay Wot red and Alcha Wot yellow . As visitor from out of state on a long work trip in the area this meal has been my comfort food to get me through the work week and making me feel at home ! Flavors were bursting in every bite with just enough spice for any palate and the portions were really good ! Per my mother “The Injera was made with premium healthy ingredient” she can just tell by the color and consistency via ft she said lol The family who owned the business was very lovely as well! They greeted me with warm welcome and the server was very patient with me and answered all of my questions even as a Habesha myself ! Lol If you’ve never had Ethiopian food or need your fix and want to try it you should definitely stop by and get a Gursha! “a bite”in Amharic and try this delicious restaurant!!
