Despite the cold and stale meal, I still left a 20% tip, but she got upset and said it wasn't enough. I won't be returning. Instead, I recommend trying the Copper Eagle restaurant about 10 minutes north of Midway. The food is 10 times better and the service is amazing.
This restaurant is a complete joke when it's open. Children are running the place, the food is terrible, the kitchen is disorganized, and it took 45 minutes to receive a stale, flavorless clubhouse sandwich that was a complete disaster. My fries were not cooked well done and my gravy was forgotten. It also took 20 minutes to receive my bill. The restaurant only had two small tables. Do not eat here.
We stopped first in 2020 never having visited the old restaurant. We returned this month because our experience last year was great. The food was great home cooking. The menu is extensive and the food delicious. There are some Senior as well as children specials. It will be our go-to restaurant when we travel to or from Vancouver of the Okanagan to the Kootenays! Service is also very good.
If heading westbound, there is a great Mexican restaurant just west of Bridesville; if going eastbound Greenwood has a couple of wonderful coffee shops and eateries. However, if you really cannot wait and must eat now, this is one of your only options. And, honestly, I would wait. Here 's why: Decor/visual stimulation: pretty spare. White walls with a few small pieces of artwork which are quite negligible due to its tiny size. Bare tables with utensils literally thrown in front of us along with the condiment tray. Bathroom is quite unappealing. Service: the one server was friendly and efficient in a loud, brash, and rough way. She would bring out the dishes two at a time and literally ask by yelling overtop our conversations, Who ordered the.. ? First, the server should know; second, yelling. Really? Did I mention she was friendly. My water was never re-filled and she never came to check on us to ensure everything was satisfactory which is pretty standard. Did I mention she was friendly? Food: in a word, terrible. The fries were overcooked which created a rock hard, tasteless starch. I was able to swallow the fries only by slathering them in copious amounts of ketchup. As for my main, I had the salmon wrap. Now, I understand and do not expect fresh, wild coho, sockeye, spring, etc. However, I can pretty much surmise that no one in this establishment would know which species of salmon it was and furthermore, at least try deal with the dryness of the flesh by marinating (or at the very least) mix the salmon with the sauce that you accompany it with. Instead, I would take a bite on one side and get a mouthful of too sweet sauce with a few vegetable fillers and then on the next bite I would be assaulted by dry salmon flesh that most likely came from a can. Btw, my guess is that this was pink salmon due to the light colour of the flesh and the fact it is the most commonly used species in the commercial salmon industry. Value/price point: This part of the review received the highest marks. The quantity of food was quite adequate in the sense that I left stuffed. And the price point is a few dollars less than similar restaurants in bigger urban centres. As much as I try to give the benefit of the doubt and rate businesses with a less critical eye than others (I do understand that these reviews can have a significant impact on the bottom line) when it comes to restaurants and such, ultimately I have to base my conclusions with food quality as the main factor. And with this in mind, I have to say Mile 0 Diner missed the mark. 2 stars.
Very clean, excellent social distancing cleaning of tables chairs. Breakfast was great! They also made an order of fries for us only 10 minutes before closing with no complaining or problem. Great place to stop if travelling.
