Vintage Cafe - MILDMAY

Your first impression here is quite positive - the place is nicely decorated and the sweets look great. It seems to go downhill from there. We found the food to be tasteless. In addition, there isn't a smile to be found from the owner / server. Not a very pleasant experience at all. We won't be back!

Decided to have brunch here last Sunday. I've been here a couple of times and tried the cupcakes. They were ok. I ordered the eggs Benedict and my wife had the poutine with the intention that we would share both. The eggs in the egg Benedict where hard semicolon this surprised as most Eggs Benedicts are sunny side up and somewhat runny. The egg in the poutine was also hard which again was a surprise. Prices were reasonable but did find the service a little spotty - although the waitress apparently was brand new. The waitress also offered to redo the eggs, but that seemed like a bit of a waste.Guess the bottom line is that it's probably not worth our while to go back, but we might give it another chance if we were in Mildmay.

Couldn't believe the selection of baked goods! Our lunch was fantastic, the best bowl of soup I have had in a long time. Defiantly will be stopping in again soon! A must stop in if your going through Mildmay!!!

Ordered the chili for my 5 year old child and a curried veggie pot pie for myself while with the family trying out this restaurant for the first time. The gluten free toast with the chili was served burnt (burnt side down to hide it) and the pot pie was all chopped up and the chunks of top were charred black and mixed all through the pie. When pointing out that they were burnt, staff seemed not too concerned and actually argued that the gluten free bread always burns because of the molasses in it. Seriously? Can't even make toast? I had to request a knife and scrape off the black parts of the toast in the garbage in the bathroom. The pot pie was replaced and still had burned parts in it. Very lame apology and made to feel like I was putting them out. Incidentally we were the only customers at the time too. Not like we were making an issue while things were busy. The staff barely gave us the time of day and we felt like we were inconveniencing them to be there. Luckily for them, we won't be again.

So many sweet treat options, and such a great diverse cafe-type menu, with homemade everything-even sandwich bread! Great little bake-shop/cafe, perfect for a meal with a welcoming good atmosphere and delicious food! Bonus, Gluten free options galore!!
