The carne from Don Lucho’s was part of my recovery from surgery. Unfortunately, I can’t stop comparing. On one of our trips to CDMX, we had terrific Carnitas at some market near the Zocolo. My taste buds hold onto that flavor, and Don Lucho’s wasn’t as good. However, I live in Milwaukee, not Mexico City, and Don Luchos was darn good. I enjoyed the meat immensely, and stuffing my face helped my convalescence.
Very good tacos. Good salsa. The seating area is very cramped, especially near the meat counter.
After trying out Carnitas Don Luchos for a business lunch, both my colleagues and I have become regular customers, often returning individually as well. If the DNC delegates don't make use of this restaurant for catering during the convention, they are truly missing out.
My friends and I decided to try Don Luchos because we were in the mood for some carnitas. If a restaurant has carnitas in its name, they have to be good, right? The staff greeted us warmly and the homemade chips, salsa, and tortillas were delicious. And as expected, the carnitas lived up to our high expectations.
I have to say, the carnitas, barbacoa, asada, and tortillas at this restaurant are the best I've ever had. The guacamole, salsa, and agua fresca are also top-notch. The staff is friendly and the prices are reasonable. It's definitely worth the wait!
