We found ourself a half cleaned table and when I was halfway done eating (10:40pm), I was told by the waiter that we are closing...in a few minutes. I gave her a look basically stating do you want me to stop eating.. She again came back in 5 mins stating we have to turn off the lights. At that point I just got up and left. I told her while leaving that they should have just told me at 10:20pm (when I arrived) that they are not taking orders. I am surprised this place is still open with this kind of service. Better go somewhere else.
After heating all about the hoopla regarding Khandahar Kabab, I decided to give it a try. We went to the Dixie Road branch. Place was busy and line was long but it was moving. Though there were a lot of patrons tjere was ample seating....I ordered the Sultani kabab, Khandahar kabab and lambs chop with out rice. With 3 sodas, price came to under $50. That was a reasonable. Food took 20 minites which I also found reasonable. The two ladies working at cashier was efficient. So everything most people wrote about this place is contrary to what I experienced. All I kept reading in the posts was how rude the employees were, how long the wait times were but how delicious the food was. What I did find was there was nothing special about the Kandahar kababs. it was very average in taste. There was no depth in flavor, nothing that made them extraordinary. I have had better kababs than this place. Anyway, it was an ok experience and something I can check off the list.
Food was very tasty; the portions were quite big. The only downside to this place was during the busier times; the inside of the restaurant would get very smoky very hot. This is a self service take away place not a restaurant...as i first had thought. The prices were reasonable. Theres not much parking either 2 the back of the building. I would definately give this place another go if i was in the area.
The Kebab are fresh and well cooked on the grill. The rice has an amazing spice to it. I just like the taste and the voices you get at Kandahar Kabab.
I went with my family, our experience at kandahar was a totally disappointment. Food was average. The service was slow and kinda rude when dealing with customers..They need to learn how to treat customers.... only restaurant decor will not bring customers back.. Better go to Bamiyan...Kabob if you are in same area and looking for Afghan Food..
