I hadn't made a reservation, so it was disappointing when the hostess immediately led us to that spot without inquiring about our seating preference. The restaurant appeared to be empty at the time, so it would have been nice to be informed that the only available table was at the bar. The food, including a juicy hamburger and tender filet mignon, was delicious. Our waitress provided excellent service, although I don't recall her name. Overall, it could have been a 5-star experience, but the lackluster service from the hostess detracted from an otherwise pleasant meal.
During our recent visit, we ordered 3 Tuna Tartar appetizers along with other dishes. Our server approached our table and apologized for the absence of the advertised Won Ton Chips, offering Tortilla chips as a substitute. It was impressive to see the boss himself take responsibility for this mistake, rather than leaving it to the servers. However, even with the substitution, the Tuna Tartar was underwhelming. The portions were generous but lacked seasoning, resulting in a lackluster dish that was only saved by the accompanying Caesar Salads. The rest of the meal, including the correctly cooked steaks and side dishes, was satisfactory. However, there were some service issues throughout the night, such as our server neglecting to clear our table as the meal progressed. It was evident that there was a lack of attention to detail and organization in the restaurant. Overall, while the food was decent, the lack of consistency and attention to detail in both the dishes and service left us feeling disappointed. It seems that there is room for improvement in the overall management and operations of The Keg.
I got a call with a day display that The Keg on Argentia cancelled my Christmas Eve reservation for my family and I. These plans and reservations have been available for weeks. The explanation they have closed by the 27th because...of all that is now going on is pathetic and unsatisfactory, especially as Covid has been since the beginning of 2020 and all her sister restaurants in Mississauga and Toronto were open (and fully booked) for the evening of the 24th.
I've been blown away from her service. I celebrated Thanksgiving with my family tonight in this keg. Desiree and Sam were quick to fix one of my orders and surpassed my expectations to make this a great night for us. The ambience was wonderful... at the fireplace on the terrace. Filet mignon was buttery and juicy. I wouldn't hesitate to visit again.
I usually avoid The Keg: I find it overpriced for the quality of food you get. This experience was no different the service was great, and the food was mediocre. The reason we visited was because a colleague of mine gave me a Keg...gift card. Despite the gift card balance showing up as available online, on Keg 's own website, the restaurant could not make it work. The manager at this location gave us the number of the gift card customer service number, and told us how great they are, and that they would be able to help us. We thanked her, paid for our dinner out of pocket, and left. Ever since then I have been trying to get in touch with that great gift card team. I called them numerous times. No one ever picks up the phone. Their voice mail asks to leave a message, and tells you someone will call you back within the next day. I left two messages, and waited three days. No one ever got back to me. Long story short, I learned to avoid The Keg, even for a free dinner. Turns out it may not be free after all.
