Cuban Cultural Club - Monterey Park

We had the pleasure to visit a special performance by our friend and world-famous South American (Paraguayan) harpist and composer Alfredo Ortiz. Today's event is located in a Cuban clubhouse of varieties, in a small, worn, older building in Monterey Park, a city that I actually associate with the great Asian community in Southern California. But shameful was my wrong idea. The Club Cultural Cubano (aka CCC) is a very intimate place dedicated to the Cuban community here in Los Angeles. The interior is very nice, with a large open floor that can be adapted for a variety of small, special events. You need to make many events with performances, as there was a small stage, and a baby border set up. The stage was dressed with despairing mini-lights. On the back is also a cantina. These special considerations they sold pastries and drinks, including wine and beer, and pastries delivered by the famous Cuban bakery Portos. I don't know if that's a common scenario, but it felt quite beneficial for a friendly, ice-breaking little event. The kitchen/cantina has a large fridge, a beverage cooler, a stove, an oven and a frit. Parking is limited, mostly street parking. Apart from the main intersection road opposite it, the building is surrounded by a mainly middle layer, residential district. And one or two words about today's artist: Alfredo must not be missed. Cuban, born during the 1950s revolution, emigrated to Venezuela, is an amazing harpist and inspired teacher who plays richly synoptic, addictive South American folk music. He is a very entertaining, informative and a very warm personality that travels worldwide. For those who support Cuban art and culture, this seems to be a very active group. This type of venue is perfect for performances as there is no bad place in the house, the acoustics was great, and the room was very comfortable, also held for a very warm summer day.
