Two middle-aged women work in the kitchen and serve at this restaurant. They serve simple, homemade-style Korean cuisine that makes customers feel cozy, especially during the cold Quebec winter.
There was a quick lunch. the restaurant is small and was full, always a good sign. eating is cheap and tasty. However, I was a little disappointed by my nudel soup, it looked very cheap as these instant noodle packages. the katsu and the ravioli were nice. it is a good place for a cheap lunch and the service is friendly.
Supper there after see review, the restaurant is small like a small family restaurant, only 4 tables and some bar window high chairs. the portion of the food is small but the price is also small. I like the buns(similar to hamburger except the bun...is steamed ,stuffing inside has choices of beef , shrimps or pork belly), very innovative, I also like the stir fried spicy chicken if you don't mind spicy, The seafood pancake is good not as oily as in the other Korean restaurant. I did not eat the Japanese food because they are more specialize in Korean food. The ventilation is not efficient , you may not dress too nice. The service is exceptionally well. The waiter is very polite and attentive . Not all the items in the menu are good you have to explore.
Traveling on business means sometimes eating for the sake of eating and watching your expense account. Haru Hana let me eat well and not overspend. It is primarily a Korean restaurant that has things like Ramen that are usually considered Japanese and a whole bunch...of Korean food too. I did not go the Ramen route. I had Haemul Pajon, a green onion and seafood crepe. Fresh with lots of seafood green onions just like they said! It is pretty big for an appetizer, I would split it with someone. So far so good. Next kimchi fried rice. They warned me it was spicy but it wasn’t really, that is not to say it wasn’t full of flavour, it was. Kimchi is a sort of pickled cabbage with chili that is a staple of Korean food. They do a basic stir fry add the Kimchi some bacon, plop a fried egg on top for protein and presto Korean comfort food. This is not a flashy Ramen place where your wait in line to pay $15.00 for a bowl of soup. This is a sort of family place run by a nice Korean lady. They just opened last August. If you are wandering around Ste Catherine and Berri just walk up to de Maisonneuve and support a small business new business. You will be happy you did.
