I went to this restaurant on February 12th and ordered a salmon dish. Unfortunately, it was barely served warm. I told the waitress, who apologized and took it back to the kitchen. However, she returned with the same dish just 5 minutes later, clearly having reheated it in the microwave or under the broiler. The food was overcooked and burnt. I am extremely dissatisfied and would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Such behavior is unacceptable for a place that prides itself on its food quality.
We decided to dine in the city centre before a show at Place des Arts. With a show at the Bell Centre on the same night and Montreal's traffic, I remembered a restaurant at Place des Arts. The restaurant is very cozy, perfect for grabbing a meal before a show. Otherwise, you are stuck in our underground city without any atmosphere. The gazpacho soup was outstanding. It was orange in color and tasted like tomatoes despite looking like carrot broth. For the main course, we had the calfsalagna with emperoric salad. The veal in rose sauce was delicious, although there was a bit too much sauce on the plate. The salad was fresh, but overdressed. They don't offer bacon bits on the salad, so don't expect it. The service was good, except when we tried to get the bill. I would recommend this restaurant only if you have an event at Place des Arts. Don't bother going out of your way to dine here. No reservation required.
As Aline said, the location is great, decor is modern sets great expectations. Unfortunately, the execution is not to Montreal standards. In our case, the steak was overdone, the potatoes were under done, a salad was late arriving, the wine... List was delivered to the table, but no one came to take the order, coffee was spilled in the saucer and still replaced as desired. We won't be back.
Step off the escalator from the parking for Place des Arts and voila an outstanding dining venue is right there. varied menu with something for all tastes. Interesting very fairly priced wine selection. Perfect cocktails, martini's etc. Jocelyn as a server is superb, professional ,helpful...with pairings of food and wine. Martin also is there to help at all times. Kim is a gem of a server too. The Duck Trio appetizer is a meal in itself, the Grilled Octopus with Lentils...amazing. Crab Cakes perfect, all salads are excellent. Mains include seafood specials, Flank Steak is SO tender, Filet Mignon rare please! Fries...have the Sweet Potato fries with spicy Mayo. Desserts, if you might have some room, are all top notch...favs include the Cheese Cake, Chocolate Mousse, Cheese Plate is excellent too. Just do not expect to walk up the night of a concert or event and amble in...make a reservation as soon as you get your tickets.
