Feedback gevenLlegamos tarde en la noche a este restaurante situado junto a un pequeño parque en el centro histórico de Morelia. El menú ofrece una variedad de platos deliciosos de diferentes países europeos, principalmente de Francia, Italia, Alemania y Austria, además de una selección de postres exquisitos. Hay una amplia gama de vinos disponibles, así como cervezas artesanales locales de México y cervezas importadas de Alemania. Probamos la Wurstplatte alemana, acompañada de unas cervezas de Múnich que nos dejaron completamente satisfechos. Nos sorprendió especialmente la variedad de ensaladas, semillas y aderezos, así como el servicio atento. Volveremos pronto para probar el desayuno.
Sin duda, volveré.
After the long progression of, admittedly, excellent Mexican offerings, steakhouses and competent (or better) Italian places in this country, it is wonderful to see excellent German and Eastern European fare on offer.The experienced German chef has crafted a sort of pan-European menu that hits many highlights, included a superb Spanish chicken parilla and a fine jaegerschitzel with spaetzle. Unusual and fresh salad bar, and a completely delightful apple strudel to finish it off.After an initial stumble with the house red wine, we found a satisfying Argentine bottle and were well cared for by the staff. This place deserves far more attention.Add a little more knowledge about the wine list, softer music, and a more robust following of customers, Schakalaka will hit all its marks.
Two things about the food in Morelia:1. I prefer the mexican food in Los Angeles. Sopa tarasco, a local specialty of pureed beans and chiles, was the one exception...a must try soup.2. The fruits and vegetables are aboslutely delicious...superior quality to anything available in Los Angeles. Head to the Mercado San Juan for the best.I had really grown tired of the local cuisine and just happened into this restaurant located a block from where I was staying. When I saw the salad bar I thanked god a million times...fresh and delicious ingredients and about 10 different european and mediterranean inspired salads. We each had soup after the salad bar. I chose mushroom and it was so tasty. I could have stopped there but went on to an innovative pasta dish...I didn't ask but I'm sure the pasta was homemade.The restaurant is located in a nice section of the centro historic where there are several restuarants and pubs near a small park. The building itself is historic but the inside appears to have been modernized at one point. Nonetheless, it's clean and the German (or Austrian) chef and his Mexican wife are a delightful couple offering a top quality product. It's evident they are working very hard and it's equally clear they care.
