The soup was very tasty and pretty hearty. The grilled cheese was great. The onions were sweet and you could taste a hint of grainy mustard in a sandwich. Very good! I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
We were looking for a new lunch. A local entrepreneur recommended real food and we were not disappointed. We share the tuna melt Panini and the Cheeseburg soup. Both were excellent. The atmosphere was very friendly and the server was so... welcome. We'll try the soup sample again.
The food here is obviously good. This place gets a star based on the crappy attitude of the owner of this facility. My mother and I came here for lunch and had to be vegan 1...option that was soup. Not terrible, but on a hot day I was looking for something cooler and looking at the vegetable sandwich. I asked if the lemon cream was actually milk (I am lactose intolerant). When I asked if I could remove this, the employee hesitated and looked to the owner... that was followed by a cold star and I was told to look at the menu. The owner then hit the red print that says they have the best sandwiches in town! That may be the case, but I will never know. The owner remained rude when I repeated my question whether he could be removed... clearly not. I never have an answer in my life like this to a simple question to have removed something for health reasons. Needless to say, we go a short distance to Delicado's and enjoyed a DAIRY free falafel packaging. I recommend it!!
There were several ways to sit outside in the fresh air. The food was fast and delicious. I was too full of the desert, but could not resist taking the divine lime coconut cake home. I'm glad. I really brightened up my evening.
We happened upon Real Food Fast while strolling through the Old City Quarter – Heritage Mews – on a cool summer day. Peering inside, we found the atmosphere and décor a little eclectic, what with its various blues and greens. It struck me as one...of those hippy yippie places. Yet, despite the bright colours, the interior was still somewhat drab due to the lack of adequate interior lighting. Reading the menu board, it’s clear that this quaint establishment specializes in soups, sandwiches, salads and desserts. Because we weren’t feeling particularly hungry for a savory item, we decided to skip lunch and go straight for the dessert. The chocolate crème brûlée cheesecake came a calling. With its chocolate foundation and creamy cheesecake base (lightly brûléed top , it looked the picture of decadence. If we focused exclusively on plating, this sweet treat would be an easy 5. In terms of taste, the cheesecake was pretty good, though was far from being one of “the best cakes in town.” The chocolate was light and creamy and I thoroughly enjoyed the brûlée; however, the actual cheesecake was rather dry. Water was needed and necessary to help get it down. Service was decent, though came across as far more transactional than friendly. I suspect this is probably because, while the staff not so subtly tried to push a soup and sandwich to accompany our cake, we stuck to our guns and got dessert only. Maybe next time ; FOOD: 3/5 SERVICE: 3/5 VALUE: 3/5 RECOMMENDATION: If you’re strolling through the Old City Quarter’s Heritage Mews, Real Food Fast makes for a decent lunch stop. While we didn’t try any of the savory items, they did look appealing – like “real food” – and would probably make a nice companion to one of the desserts on offer. Mild recommendation.
