Just stopped in at this new place not knowing what to expect. The atmosphere was delightful as was the service. I purchased this beautiful tiny cake called a Bahia. The description sounded so good but had a really unique mixture of ingredients so I had noidea how it was going to taste. I was going to take a couple small bites but could not resist eating the whole thing. I'm notsure how many calories I racked up but I am certain it was one of the best things I have ever tasted. I will be back.
Macarons tasted great, and I planned on ordering more, but customer service is lacking. Upon receiving the macarons, the ice pack was very warm and macarons themselves were warm to the touch. Since I planned to share with my toddler, I measured thefilling temperature of a few macarons and reached out to A La Folie via Facebook to make sure they were still safe afterarriving that warm. A La Folie asked for the order number and never replied. Macarons were not served at the toddler party and Iate them all myself (definitely a plus side to this situation), but the lack of response left a bad impression. Too bad, thesewere one of the best ones I've taste this side of the pond. Update Placed a few more orders, not without hiccups, but a solidchoice when craving sweets.
I would definitely recommend going here for a treat. Everything is delicious!!
Tres bien Chef Jerome. We lived in France for almost 4 years and unlike here, finding legit croissants is near impossible. And trust me, we've tried. A la Folie makes the most legit French pastries in the suburbs hands down. The pain au chocolat (akachocolate croissants) are equally as good with high quality semi sweet chocolate. You know a croissants is great when 1) thesurface has a slight crunch through the flaky exterior, 2) it smells overwhelmingly like butter, 3) there's a buttery residueon your fingers while and after eating, and 4) there is a flaky mess everywhere after you're done. A la Folie delivers thatexperience. The macarons are delicious... on par with La Duree or Pierre Herman. Great flavors and texture is perfect. Onlymissing Rose. Most importantly, shout out to Morgan who was insane friendly and exemplified amazing customer service. Sheseemed genuinely happy to be working there. Good thing there's a rewards program because we'll be back. Only improvement couldbe on price (a little)... unless you're bringing ingredients in from France. Bon chance et felicitations on the new shop!
