Such nice people, unbelievable hand made Shakes, sad, we had the last of the Zingers (Phosphats Soda), as the server said they didn't sell enough so that they break it. Since 1939. How can you go wrong with a place that not only survives, but, THRIVED, the long in NASHVILLE! It's not a light city. With ever changing neighborhoods, a wealth of delicious food from all kinds of cultures, Ellison Place was always a cornerstone. We will be DEFINITELY again on our next trip! So much more to try there! Loves the walk-in window! Loves all smiles from the staff!
What a sweet place! A real ice soda shop. The decor was amazing. The service was excellent. Everyone was so friendly. The menu was comfort food. There was a small mix in what I ordered and what I got, but they immediately made it right... with a smile. We have the fried chicken and the pot roast. Both were good. We were too full to order Dessert, but wanted to try the Boozy Shakes... Milkshakes with alcohol! This place had something for everyone. They even had a gift shop area.
I ordered the meat and 3. The turkey and dressing was absolutely delicious! The beefs were tender and very good. The potatoes were excellent, but very small. I'd say I might have 3 tablespoons of potatoes with a big crater in the middle for the severity. I didn't care about the taste of brown Gravy, it had a bad / gerancid aftertaste for some reason, so I poured it out. The squash cuprole was also quite good, not what I expected and more like a sweet corn pudding with squash in it, but it was good and the part was twice as much of the potatoes. The only thing I didn't like was the cookie, too fat and hard, but this is my personal opinion, I like my cookies soft and fluffy and not soaked in fat. My husband had the burger and didn't care at all, he said it tasted like a frozen plaster, but said the bungalow was good. Overall I enjoyed the food and the service was friendly, although a bit slow as it was so busy. It is a very loud environment and quite chaotic. Cool retro-decor and I would return, maybe on a weekday in a less busy hour.
This place was absolutely wonderful!!! The food was so delicious. I love the old soda shop decoration and theme. You can cook breakfast, burgers or at home. We will definitely go back!
Excellent, but there are better meat and threes if that’s what you’re after! (Arnold’s) We went with the intention to try some more “soda shop” selections but once we looked at the menu we had to try some meat and three options. They were great! I had Turkey Dressing and my sis had the chicken and dumplings. Both we’re very good. For sides we had turnip greens, mashed potatoes and gravy, and green beans. All fantastic. We topped it off with milkshakes to-go which were also fantastic. I look forward to going back to try a burger or something more traditional to soda shops.
