If you want to grab a popover with some jam and tea, plan to get here at least 2 hours before they open. We stumbled upon it early after visiting the summit of Cadillac Mountain, and we are glad we were early. The restaurant starts taking reservations about 30 minutes before they open, but the line for reservations starts to form about an hour before that. The waitstaff was very friendly and welcomed my dog into the restaurant. The gift shop adjacently attached to the restaurant was decent as well and offered items from the restaurant, such as the popover mix and the famous strawberry jam, as well as a wide variety of toiletries, clothing items, and miscellaneous things. The restaurant itself is very clean and offers beautiful views of Bubble Rock and Jordan's Pond. I recommend eating indoors to avoid the bees outside, they are present until end of October during warm fall seasons. The popovers were absolutely delicious and the tea was warm, and the strawberry jam was perfectly made. We had a fun time stopping here for brunch during our tour of Acadia Park and plan to come back!
The perfect stop after exploring the Jordan Pond loop or one of the other nearby trails! My wife and I came here at the end of October and despite our belief that it may be quiet, there was still quite the crowd waiting to eat here. Jordan Pond house has a full menu and everything on it looked and smelled delicious! We opted for the classic popovers and coffee, both of which I still dream of today. The freshly made, hot popovers are huge and come with butter or fresh Jam. The coffee is a special blend from a local roast, Coffee by Design in Portland ME. If youre in the area this stop is a must for refueling after a good hike!
Convenient but just okay food after a hike at Jordan Pond. This spot is right by the pond with parking that gets crowded. Their outdoor space with a gorgeous lake view has a good set up for outdoor wedding ceremonies and events while their indoor space has several tables with an open wall and outdoor view. Though it was quite busy around lunchtime, we were seated right away. Service was excellent but the food was just alright. My Lobster Bisque was barely warm and had a skimpy amount of meat. Then though they boast about their popovers, they were just okay and at room temperature. I've made better and have had better elsewhere. NOTES/TIPS: It's the only food spot near the pond but there are other ones about 15 minutes driving (5 miles away). Nice gift shop attached with rustic and nature-themed items. Zero to very spotty cellphone service. Bees are aplenty!!! Buzz buzz buzz!
We visited Jordan Pond House during a recent visit to Bar Harbor. Being our first time we decided to venture into some of the traditional required first timer activities. This of course includes popovers at Jordan Pond House! They did not disappoint. As hyped up as they were I didn't believe they'd be so satisfying. They really hit the spot after walking the Pond and doing the half hike up Bubbles. I polished off every bit of strawberry jam and butter. I ordered early grey tea to go with mine, but my fiancé ordered hot coffee. If you're a coffee snob you'll be pleased because they offer Coffee By Design roasts. A must on any Bar Harbor trip!
