Poppins New Milton - New Forest

We were initially skeptical when we saw the slightly outdated appearance of this cafe from the outside, but we were pleasantly surprised by the fantastic experience we had inside. The food was delicious and the menu had a good variety of options. The staff were professional, friendly, and polite, and the cleanliness of both the main dining area and the restrooms was exceptional. The service was efficient and overall, my husband and I were extremely impressed with this cafe. We can confidently recommend Poppins as a top-notch dining option. This establishment deserves to thrive and we had an unforgettable dining experience.

I attempted to order a kids meal and was denied. I informed the server that it should be clearly stated on the menu, but he rudely snatched it from my hand, showed me a different menu, and pointed out that it was listed there. However, there was still no mention of an age limit for kids meals. I would have overlooked this normally, but the lack of respect and absence of an apology made the experience unpleasant. On a positive note, the fries were tasty.

The restaurant had wonderful, welcoming staff, delicious food, and perfectly brewed tea. The exceptional service stood out, which is unfortunately rare in many places nowadays.

So I ordered a mega Breakfast/Hot chocolate like I always do at Poppins I can’t believe how much they vary from Cafe to Cafe city to city.. So on this visit to New Milton it was chargrilled- No signs saying they use a chargrill but it was cooked to a crisp, The mushrooms over cooked to a crisp,The Tomatoe blackened the worst of all the bacon totally overcooked shrivelled It was like having a BBQ breaky.. The beans were cold Hash brown re heated (They even burnt the toast to much that the waitress insisted that a new batch cooked so I had to wait 5/6 mins longer) A slight improvement on my last visit but def not the standard you would expect to pay £10.50 for a decent breaky The Hot chocolate was Luke warm which was a shame but hey I know in future that I’ll have to look for somewhere else for a decent breaky in New Milton as sorry I don’t like Chargrilled Breaky but if you do carry on and visit here..

Came for breakfast with 2 children. They didn’t seem to do a specific child’s breakfast so ordered 2 of the smaller breakfasts for them. As these came with mushrooms and tomato which my grandchildren won’t eat, I asked to swap these for beans which were included on the breakfast I was having. To my surprise I was told this would cost extra, they couldn’t have beans. If they wanted to swap it would have to be with something already included in their breakfast! Absolutely ridiculous! One had an extra egg which they did not eat and the other had extra bacon which they did not eat! Surely it would have been cheaper for the cafe to swap to beans? They were on the menu for other dishes so surely not a big ask? The food was cheap and cheerful but the service was quick. I don’t think I will bother to come back here though.
