Our first server was friendly and efficient. Her replacement, not so much. We sat at the bar because the small place was packed. I ordered the Coop's Sampler platter which had a bit of everything jambalaya, fried chicken, gumbo, red beans and rice, and sausage and rabbit. My hubby ordered the red beans rice and sausage. Thegumbo came out first and it was delicious and warm spicy. When my sampler platter came out, the only thing I could identify was the fried chicken. This was my main complaint it was a big giant hodge podge of food, that all tasted exactlythe same a giant plate of over spiced Cajun seasoned stuff. I couldn't eat much because it also became mushier the longer it sat there. Also because of the dark restaurant interior I just couldn't tell if the chicken had been cookedcompletely, so I was hesitant to enjoy it. On the other hand, my hubby's plate with just red beans rice, and sausage was yummy, with distinct flavors and textures. Coop's place food wasn't bad, just indistinct and mono chromatic.
Stopped in here late Saturday night to meet up with a friend and was not disappointed. Small, dive y looking place, but full of character and flavor. I got the 2 piece fried chicken with rabbit jambalaya and sausage and it's the best fried chicken I've ever had in my life succulent, full of flavor, great crispy skin, and the jambalaya was super flavorful as well. All the prices were super reasonable too. I can't speak for any of the drinks, as we only had water, but Iwouldn't mind trying some next time. We had to wait in line outside for a bit, but it was definitely worth it. Just don't expect to get a table right away if you show up late in the evening. Can't wait to visit NOLA again just to eat here asecond time.
Cannot recommend enough! This place was packed and it's obvious why! The servers were fun and funny, the smells and sounds were enticing, and it's all because of the FOOD!!! We all agreed it was the best meal we've had in NOLA. The fried chicken cannot be beat, the shrimp creole was mouthwatering, and the gumbo and jambalaya were amazing. They even accommodated our vegetarian friend with a veggie creole that wasn't listed on the menu! Every single dish was a generousportion at a reasonable price and SO MUCH FLAVOR! We will definitely be back!! Only thing I wish was that I could've bought a t shirt or something! The staff shirts were funny and I would totally wear them!
Coop’s place was recommended by some locals and it was not disappointed! the food was delicious! the parts were big. it is a small hole in the wall art of space and probably not the best choice for small children due to more relaxed speech.
To be honest, I can't tell them how the food was in this facility, as we were as good as sold to go before we even sit. on the search for a local farewell from local jambalaya and creole eating we went to Coop’s place on the back of a youtube recommendation. the restaurant was quite busy and the waiting area was very small. the first commentary was from the busboy who dreamed a table, who called “door” as we fought to get in. not the kind of greeting we expected in a city where the inhabitants are known for their southern hospitality and manage. we have asked for a table for five and we are happy to wait a few minutes for a table. the restaurant was very laboriously lit to read the chalkboard menu. perhaps the dimming light hid a little more healthier? we were then asked for id and not in a particularly pleasant way through the waitress, the some dog ohr laminated menus coupling. it was an abrupt “ID” that we met. no “Hello” or “Welcome” only “ID”! regrettably, or should I say with thanks, two of our party have no id with them that is not a requirement in Britain. it was clear that our whole party was over 30. when we tried to explain that 2 have no id, we were hit with a very terrible “goodbye” and thus the waitress turned to their healings and went away! we were left open and amazed as we had spoken. in my 35 years in the hospitality I have never spoken so. I was stunned. some of my colleagues who also work in hospitality laughed with embarrassment. others, they have to be open. if this is how this restaurant treats its guests, then it makes me wonder how they treat their food. there are any carelessness that is shown on the product that they deliver, or it is prepared in the same way as it customers, in a slapdash, aggressiv and uncaring wise. not only that, but as we turn a corner from the epidemic, I would have thought that everyone would be precious especially in consideration of the local competition. they can take their chances with Coop’s place regarding his offer of food, but I would never lower for me to repay this establishment.
