Another great find for me in Harlem since moving here from Atlanta, I have been missing BBQ joints this is NOT a BBQ Joint but somehow it fills my craving. The Jerk Chicken is wonderful. Hard to pick which sides to get as they are all great. Hidden on side street, definitely a Local Secret.
The most amazing soup! We also love the curry goat roti. Sisters is by far the absolute best Jamaican food in NYC, maybe beyond. Always fresh, delicious and great service!
RanDe of Sisters Caribbean Cuisine catered our May 2021 150-person wedding reception, and it was the best decision we ever made. When my finance and I sat down to plan our wedding, we knew it was nonnegotiable that we had traditional, authentic Caribbean food (oxtail/stew chicken/curry goat) as both of our families are from Caribbean countries. We did not want food that looked good but lacked flavor and the seasonings to which we were accustomed. We spoke to and met with multiple Caribbean caterers, some were out of our budget, and some did not think we could pull off our vision of having a sit-down dinner (vs. buffet style) for such a large group. By the time we came across Sisters Caribbean Cuisine we were only weeks away from the wedding. From our first conversation with RanDe, we knew we were in good hands. RanDe prepared a wide variety of dishes for our tasting, and we loved every single dish, down to the sides (callaloo, coconut rice peas to name a few).He worked with us and our planner to finalize every dish for our cocktail hour and dinner and even customized some dishes based on our requests (curry chicken roti rolls Our guests were pleasantly surprised with our cocktail hour selections, especially the codfish fritters. The sit-down dinner was everything we hoped it would be, what any West Indian would imagine a Sunday dinner to be. The flavors were spot on, spicy but not too spicy for those trying the dishes for the first time. Knowing what a blur the day would be for us, RanDe and his team made sure our leftovers were packed with care and made sure our to-go plates contained a little bit of everything. Our guests raved about the food for weeks after the wedding. We would recommend RanDe and Sisters Caribbean Cuisine to anyone looking for an experienced, friendly, and reliable catering team.
Yeah um, I usually try and support small businesses and really wanted to try the food here, but this was not it. After reading the reviews I wanted to give Sister’s the benefit of the doubt. I spent $50 on oxtails, mac and cheese, and their pineapple cornbread. For starters there were four pieces of tough, fatty oxtails and the food was literally cold. To make matters worse the oxtails and rice were sitting in a puddle of oil. I mean it was just really disappointing. The rice and beans also tasted spoiled. The mac and cheese was not at all mac and cheese. They must have used a vegan cheese because the cheese was gritty, sweet and flavorless, it had the texture and profile of cashews. Sister’s I suggest you guys read your reviews and maybe learn from them. A lot of these reviews are complaints about the same thing *example* fatty oxtails, oily food, cold food. Maybe some tweaking needs to be done to ensure longevity and successfulness of your business. Best of luck guys!
