Mamma White's Pancake Parlour - Newark

We decided not to eat at this restaurant after seeing the conditions. We were concerned about the use of the same tools for different types of food and the overall cleanliness of the premises. The kitchen was small and we doubted they had enough space to store ingredients and utensils separately. We reported our concerns to food safety. They acknowledged the need for improvements by the business operator and provided a list of required improvements. Despite our initial disappointment, we believe that Pancake Parlour has a great concept and hope they can make the necessary changes to succeed. We look forward to revisiting and witnessing the improvements.

This was my first visit to Mama White's and I must say, the lady working there was delightful! She prepared a completely vegan pancake for me with syrup and banana, and it was absolutely delicious! I will definitely be returning in the future!

I've eaten in here before as a Vegetarian and always liked the place. I'm now Vegan and remembered they had said they could make dairy free pancakes so popped in to try some. The thick american style pancakes can be made with soya yogurt instead of the dairy yogurt, no eggs are used in the mix. The staff have a good understanding of different dietary needs and also cater for gluten free. I had the simple maple syrup pancake, sometime simple is the best! But there are several sweet options and one savoury that are vegan, although staff are willing to customise pancakes so you can think up your own creations if you wish. Soya milk is available for drinks and they make fresh fruit smoothies too. Staff are warm and friendly and the cafe has a lovely relaxed feel and is very child friendly. We didn't even go inside the restaurant, as we had already seen enough to be deterred. The staff wanted to use different utensils for our food, instead of using the same ones that were used for meat. The kitchen was small and seemed too cramped to store ingredients and utensils separately, making us concerned about food safety. They mentioned that improvements were needed in terms of the economic operator and a catalog of improvements required for the pancake parlour concept. Despite our initial concerns, we hope they can turn things around and make positive changes. We look forward to returning in the future to see any improvements.
