Halal R Us Food Truck - Newark

This place was terrible all of our food was soggy and I told them to make our food fresh. One star would not recommend.

The Hala truck by the university hospital newark has great food but awful customer service. When you get there at first The guy doe not even acknowledge you and let's you stand there ignoring you until he is finish his stuff. Then takes your with an attitude like I'm bothering him. Finishes my order and hands it to me without even looking at me and grabs the money and turns around like nothing. Not even a little Thanks you for my business. That is why i gave him 3 stars because customers service is just as important as the product you are selling.

For great Halal food at an amazing price, Halal R Us is truly the best place to go. With trucks scattered around Newark (I usually go to the Bergen St. location behind University Hospital), $6 is enough for you to enjoy a deliciously satiating lamb and chicken platter over rice with as much white and red sauce as your heart desires! The gentleman who cooks at the Bergen St. location specifically is one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. If there's one truck you need to visit, it's his.

Almost everything in the menu is $5. The combo platter is $6 and if you want extra meat or extra rice, I believe it's an extra $1. If you want extra white AND/OR hot sauce, don't be afraid to ask bc it's free! Drinks are only $1. Employees are very welcoming and hardworking. They always have a smile on their face. Based on my experience, they're only open during the fall and spring semester so make sure to get as many platters as you want before winter/summer classes start! I've seen them open as early as 9:15 am in the morning but I'm not sure what time they close exactly. They also have burgers and cheesesteaks too!!! But if you wanna stay safe, get a chicken or lamb over rice platter with salad, EXTRA white sauce, and ask for hot sauce if you want it spicy. But be careful!!! It's EXTREMELY hot and ADDICTING!

The mango tacos are so good and the staff is so friendly and efficient.
