The beef tataki was good but the accompanying of grated vegetables left me dubitative. The old tomatoes at the mozzarella disappointed me. Indeed, the mozzarella was of poor quality and in low quantity. for an entry to 10€ I expected much better. Another disappointment: many people boast the atmosphere of this place. bof ! has apart the nice cook who comes to inquire about your well being, the owners (I suppose, a man and a woman) do not shine by their friendliness. I'm just joking with the regulars, not a smile, not a word, nothing.
What a surprise in the middle of nimes an authentic hall with delicious fresh fish, meat and fruit. Right by passing lap qui couette, I fell the accurate in service and refinement of the dishes. The tataki I ordered with a sturdy little rose was a shot to the rose. My day can't be broken! Chapeau! !
Even if you do not need to get food for your home or room, paying a visit to The Halles of Nîmes is a must. They are located inside the historical city center, l'Ecusson. It is a sizeable wet market, indoor, and opened all year long 7days a week, from about 6:30 am to about 1p.m. You will get/see all possible ingredients and food supplies to support French Cuisine, with an emphasis on regional products: fruits&veggies, charcutry, cheese, fish....Here comes "la Pie qui couette", an insider restaurant openned for lunch everyday but on Mondays. Confortably sit on high bar-chairs, you will watch the cooks preparing your food orders directly from the Halles fresh products. There is variety on menu lists, depe, ding on seasons and availibility. There is agood level on innovation and creativity from the Chef. The wine list ( mostly regional ) offers good choices , "by the glass" included. And if you want to push them into "digestifs", liquors, you get a good response.Overall, Very good "quality for money".Not easy to make a reservation on weekends, public holydays or high season, as their system hardly enables it.My advice is to show up 20 minutes ahead of your meal time, deal with the staff about status and go to ramble in the alleys of the Halles meantime. Normally you will not wait for more than 20/30 minutes.Enjoy you meal!
Very beautiful place with a kitchen made in front of you. an exceptional tartar and a whole house kitchen. We ended up with a xxl rum tasting.
It's always a great time everything is fresh and finely cooked. The whole in the halls of nimes with the stalls around.Quality wines and a presentation worked for each dishes. A real good time
