What a discovery! I was surprised to find this hidden gem in the small coastal village of Lamlash. While not the most affordable option on Arran, '63AD' is definitely one of the top dining spots. Located within Altachorvie House, the restaurant is privately owned and the owners play a key role in creating a welcoming atmosphere for guests. The cozy ambiance with wood burning fires and stunning views of Holy Isle make for a perfect setting to enjoy pre-dinner drinks and peruse a menu featuring local ingredients. While not extensive, the menu offers a good variety and delivers the quality one would expect from top city restaurants. The generously portioned duck dish was a standout. The friendly staff and talented chefs, along with excellent house wines, made our evening both enjoyable and memorable. Missing out on dining at '63AD' while visiting Arran would be a mistake.
We had dinner at the 63AD restaurant in the evening, and the menu was excellent, catering to our tastes. The restaurant had a fantastic location with the same amazing view. The service was top-notch, with attentive and professional staff. The manager was delightful and the enthusiasm of the staff made our visit a positive experience. The meal and wine were fantastic and reasonably priced. The next morning, we enjoyed breakfast on the terrace in the sunshine, with a wide variety of food options and accommodating staff. The food was delicious and we even had the added bonus of watching pheasants and squirrels in the garden. This was our first visit, but we will definitely be back. A special thanks to Alan and all the staff for a wonderful experience. Thank you.
63AD is easily missed just a small sign points to its existence 40 metres up a tarmac track just off the sea front at Lamlash. This walk, whist off the beaten track, is well worth the effort as the path soon opens out to reveal a beautiful vista of Holy Isle and an excellent bear garden. On a fine day this is one of the best views you can get of the isle and it is a wonderful place to eat or enjoy some refreshment. We happened upon this place by accident but enjoyed a drink in the garden before going in to enjoy an excellent meal. Having recently been taken over by a new manger this place has been refurbished and presents a very pleasant ambiance, and offers a great place to relax with a bar and lounge area. However it is the food here that really is the star, and both my wife and I enjoyed a splendid meal and a very enjoyable evening. 63AD is an up and coming venue in the Arran scene and deserves much greater recognition. Highly Recommended.
