A group of us recently visited Melinda's restaurant as soon as it opened, and we were impressed by the fantastic owners, Allende and Melinda. They were extremely welcoming. A few of us went on a Tuesday and a friend loved their cinnamon buns. The latte was delicious, and we also tried their excellent biscotti. We initially sat outside during the summer, then moved inside when the weather changed. On a Friday, a group of 6-7 of us gathered when restrictions were lifted, and it was great to finally be able to meet up. However, our most recent visit left us feeling disappointed. The restaurant placed signs on the tables, demanding that customers limit their stay to one hour. Despite leaving after 15 minutes when no other customers were waiting, we were chastised for allegedly not following the rules. We felt unappreciated and disheartened by this experience. We wanted to show our support for the restaurant and enjoy time with friends, but the incident left a sour taste in our mouths. We understand the need to accommodate more guests, and had there been a wait, we would have gladly left within the hour. We wish nothing but success for Melinda's, but hope they can find a more considerate way to enforce time limits in the future.
We had a ferry to Vancouver from Victoria at 12 and decided to have breakfast nearby. I found this nice café online, so we go there. The place is located in the middle of the industry, but its sweet with warm atmosphere and excellent service. We...hadow the most delicious oatmeal with mixed berries, cappuccino and even get free Melindas famous Biscotti. I would highly recommend it!
We visited this café for the first time today for breakfast, and we were delighted by our experience. From the moment we walked in, we received a warm welcome. Everyone who entered was greeted with a personal touch, even though it was obvious that many of them were regular customers. We felt that same warmth and sincerity extended to us as well. We plan to become regulars ourselves, making the decent walk from our home in Sidney for hot chocolate and biscotti at least! The breakfast was exactly what we were looking for, and the coffee was excellent. The complimentary biscotti was a nice touch and we can understand why it is so popular. Overall, it was a great experience.
It starts before you even enter the cafe the sign on the door says “if we don’t smile, you don’t pay”. What a great way to welcome customers and get them in the right frame of mind. And the smiles are real! Had not...heard of this place, but went in there for a biscotti or two and was hooked. We just bought 4 bags of biscotti for gifts!
