If you are ever hungry while you are the I-5 near the LA-OC border, then leave on Imperial Highway - Wood Grill Buffet will fill your belly and then some. My brother recently moved to this area and discovered Wood Grill Buffet. For his BDay celebration we had lunch today. The place feels like an upscale Sizzler. Even the environment had an almost elevated suburban feeling because Norwalk took the pain to invest in his city centre. The restaurant is new and very clean and filled with kitchen series. When I arrived a little at noon, the place was not packed. The cost of a person for everything you can eat is about $12, and all you can drink is another $2. So plan to spend about $16 per person if you include tip. It's not the best buffet I had, but there were some remarkable articles. I had breakfast in Tropical Cafe in Silver Lake earlier in the morning, so I wasn't so hungry and didn't try everything they had to offer. If I can eat buffets at all, I will usually focus on meat and seafood and avoid most of the starchy and carb-laden foods. To start things, I went to the meat section. I thought the pork ribs were okay. They were nothing like the extraordinary Bludso’s, which is just a few miles away, but hey this is all you can eat buffet, not a BBQ connection. Most seafood is served with a crispy dough coating. They don't serve crab legs – I overheard a woman who asked and looked at her disappointed face when they told her the closest that she was crab salad that used artificial crabs. The softest and tenderest meat they serve is the pot roast, which is served over vegetables. I just took the meat. My share was tender, but I found it dry. My sister and my brother were a little surprised when I told them it was dry because they saved it. We have found out that they meat with more marbling in it (i.e. fat), while I chose a slimmer cut. So the best advice is to cut the meat before getting it. if it has fat then put it in your plate. if it is not, let it get at the buffet counter for someone else. After I had fed my inner carnivore, I decided to taste her sweet stuff. The pineapple was fresh, ripe and sweet. They had this bread called yeast roll. It was like a dinner roll but light and fluffy and was just delicious. Dangerous if you try to limit your coal supply. It reminded me of the Filipino pan de sal. The desserts I tried were the lemon melodies and some baked brownie concoction. None of them was excessively sweet. I liked the lemons best. The rest of my family was on a mission to try everything this place had to offer and earn their money. We were there for about 2 hours and overall, my brother and sister agreed that this place was superior hometown buffet. My nephews loved building your own sunflowers. I was not necessarily in agreement with my nephew when he announced that “that everything he ate was good.” But given the price of the buffet and the quality of the food, I was close to agreeing to it. I even have a good food to hear a father at a table, near us gently zigzag his child to fill on the soda instead of eating. I guess they were on a mission to fill their bells. The service is very fast and attentive. The waiters checked us at least every 10 minutes or less. I'm not sure if they wanted us to go after the 1st hour, but they really seemed to serve our needs. They made only one mistake and accidentally gave me a diet of Cola instead of regular, and they gave us a service card to fill in. I thought that was overkilled because I wasn't even close to being annoyed. But I think they'll send you vouchers when you fill out the card, so my sister did. The parking lot is plentiful and much that it shares with other companies in a well maintained strip-mall. Directly opposite the street of AMC Theatres and Norwalks Citizens' Centre.
