Kids love the sushi boat experience; pick from 5 different price levels based on plate color. This will always be our neighborhood sushi place...
I love Japanese cuisine, and have traveled to Japan enough to understand what it's meant to be. My first comment here: the reviews are hot and cold, and neither extreme capture this place. So check out Yelp or other online review forums, that have closer to 100 reviews. That said, I like Takara Sushi. My kids LOVE it. The sushi is fine: clean, tasty and good. It is not the best sushi in the Bay Area, but it's better than most. I've visited this place maybe 20 times over a few years, and have never had a bad experience with the food. So the really bad reviews seem weird. Who knows? I've never had a problem. The servers are generally friendly, but I would call the service hit and miss. When it's good, no worries. When this place gets busy though, things can slow down sometimes enough to be annoying. On the whole, I'd give it a B+, which is better than most. My favorite place for sushi is down near Palo Alto. But I am always happy to go here, no question. Thumbs up!
Absolutely love this place. I have tried many sushi places and at the end I still vote for Takara sushi. Very cozy and friendly environment. They have many vegetarian options and good service. We told the gentleman who was making the sushi that we are vegetarian and he made us special sushi with amazing design. Best best best
This is one of the best Japanese chicken curries I've had in the Bay Area. The service was very attentive (there was another place that was even better, but it closed a year ago). The fried chicken was delicious and pleasantly juicy, and the curry was good as well. However, it's when you combine the chicken, curry, red pickles, and rice in one bite that the flavors really shine! I’ll definitely be back!
"The chawan mushi had a slightly off seafood smell. The ramen was decent, but it can't compare to Ippudo. However, the saba in the combination dinner was excellent. The wait time was quite long."
