101 Cafe - Oceanside

Established in 1928 as a small diner, the 101 Cafe is an Oceanside institution. Breakfast is served all day and the menu features throwbacks such as chocolate malts and Jan’s Raspberry Coffee Cake. Lunch options are also classic from cheeseburgers to meatloaf. Service is swift and amiable even during the lunchtime rush.

This charming old-fashioned café serves delicious food and is located on the south coast highway. The café has a long history, with meals served to customers in cars on roller blades. There is stool seating around a U-shaped counter, as well as tables throughout the café. The walls are decorated with pictures from different decades. I discovered that they are known for having the best chili in Oceanside only after I had already ordered my food. However, I enjoyed my soft poached eggs on whole wheat toast. The 101 Cafe offers endless coffee and both the food and coffee were excellent. The waitress was very friendly and seemed to have a personal connection with many of the regular customers. I will definitely be returning to dine at this café the next time I am in Oceanside.

Food is a good, Milkshake's are awesome. Environment is really nice. Wait for food is not that too long and it's a good place to go relax with the guys or just have a family luncheon.
