Sad that their Madison Galeries already closed shop. Soft, pillowy pork buns that must be eaten the day it was bought. I like their pineapple buns better, like a sweet dessert bun perfect with a cup of tea. I hope they can bounce back with restored vigor.
Upon seeing this store Tim Ho Wan had a flashback of their amazing Pork Buns. It was so in demand then that you can only had one order which contained three pieces. It was an audacious thing. Lucky Bun features a number of selections. And they are obviously riding on the popularity of this Hong Kong origin. I got the Pork Bun and had it on the spot. It's fluffy but way too flaky. I made a mess where I was standing. It's also way too buttery and its filling not as good as I expected it to be. I also had the Veggie Shitake version but it was more like Kutchay. The taste was uninteresting although the bread wasn't breaking down like the first one. Other choices include Pineapple (try Tuan Tuan's), Chicken Curry and Salted Egg.
