Chens Kitchen just keeps getting better!! Have taken friends there for Dim Sum and a week later wanting, no! Pleading to visit Chens again. As for me.. Dim sum better than most in Northbridge, thought I would try a 'take away, expecting same old...OMG, memories came flooding back as to what Chinese was like before saturation.. What sets this Kitchen Apart from the rest is fresh ingredients but most if all, Chens food is cooked with passion and love, very rare ingredients indeed..
We visited for dim sum and had a pleasant experience. There was a decent variety of dishes, although the service was a bit slow. The fried rice and noodles we ordered were both tasty. Luckily, we were able to find parking outside since it was Sunday.
This is our go-to spot for Dim Sum in the neighborhood. The kids love coming here for Dim Sum. I'm not sure about the negative reviews, though. While the selection may not be extensive, the basics are solid. Our family favorites include the deep-fried squid, rice dough with Chinese doughnut ("char leong"), pork buns, chicken feet, minced pork and prawn dumplings, and other traditional dim sum items. The portions have gotten smaller and prices have increased, but that seems to be a trend in Northbridge. Unlike some other dim sum spots, this place is not overly noisy, making it easy to have a conversation. We also appreciate that their food has little to no MSG.
Went here for lunch today with the work crew. I didn't order but my mate nailed it. Awesome dumplings, pork buns, veges and the best salt and pepper squid I've ever had. The only thing I didn't like was the steak rolls, too sweet for me.
