Cigarette smoke wafting through from the kitchen constantly was also off putting. It was so quiet in the restaurant it was almost uncomfortable to have a conversation as everyone could hear everything. Not even background music playing. Won't be back.
Nestled at the top end of William Street is The Red Teapot. It’s a long-standing haunt, featuring Northern Chinese cuisine in an intimate setting. The menu is extensive; offering something for everyone. While I do love noodles, my trip here was centred around smaller share dishes like greens, dumplings, fried squid and the house recommended cumin spiced lamb skewers. The pricing is really reasonable making it an affordable option that people should consider for lunch or dinner outings. It might be on a main road, but it’s a bit out of the way from the normal strip of venues making it a bit of an unknown destination for many.
We have been to this place many times before and loved it. However had not been aince it changed establishments. So it was a no brainer to grab a take away meal from there. We asked for the fried squid tentacles which we have really enjoyed in the past, and the special fried rice. I asked for the fried rice without sprouts and the lady tried to get me to have the veg fried rice instead. We explained we wanted the special fried rice without sprouts and she agreed. We were told it would be minutes wait as they had dining in customers. There were only two tables occupied at the time. What a disappointment when we got home. The tentacles were quite bland and soggy and the friend rice, tasteless. We had also been given the veg fried rice after all, despite paying for the special fried rice. Very disappointing. We'd been hoping to take a friend there next weekend and sadly will no longer be visiting our once favoruite haunt.
When my bf and I first arrived at the restaurant there was only 1 other customer in store. The place had a cozy vibe despite and the waitress made us feel welcome straight away. There were only 4 choices of steamed/boiled dumplings to choose from so it made it easy to decide what we wanted. Our dumplings were ready pretty quickly and the pork dumplings came out after 12 minutes The boiled pork dumplings smelled great when they first came out, each looking plump and juicy. The skin wasn't as thin as we would have liked but it was still soft and enjoyable to eat. The dumplings were as juicy as they looked, which is always great. The flavour in the boiled beef dumplings was a bit...read more
We came here for a quick feed. Ordered a fried rice noodle dish and 20 minutes later they brought out a plate of fried rice. We can see why the girl would have misunderstood but we even pointed at the picture of fried rice noodle She brought it oit and we said this was wrong and asked how long it would take to make fried rice noodles, and she said 20 minutes. We were in a rush and so we had to pay for our drinks and go. There was no apology. Not coming back.
