Everything came in a timely fashion and was hot. Service was as efficient and as pleasant as one could hope for.The spot was very busy, both with sit-down business and take-out, so they must be consistent with their quality. We will definitely return.
Finding a place that does roast duck better than Lau Kee is quite the challenge perfectly balanced flavors and orders ready in 5 minutes.DON’T MISS OUT: If you’re placing an order, make sure you add a couple duck rolls on you’ll thank me later.Lau Kee takes a high energy no frills approach to take out; each meal feels like home cooking.
I've been going to this restaurant since the week they first opened years ago and this place is consistently perfect! The service is fast and friendly; I'm a regular from Northwest Philadelphia (Roxborough) and I always find that if I make a trip to Chinatown that it's a MUST to visit. I usually start off with a Wonton Soup and a Peking Duck Roll; which is to die for! Then I usually get one of my favourite entrees which is Orange Beef (crispy fried beef tossed in a sauce so delicious and flavourful that you'll get bites where you taste actual orange) or I'll get Shrimp, Squid, Scallops with Chinese Five Spice which is always fresh and seasoned to perfection while still remaining light and not overbearing. Other favourites include their Singapore Mei Fun, Roasted Duck Congee which is a winter necessity, and their General Taos Chicken, but to be fair anything you get here will inevitably blow you socks off.
Lau Kee is one of Chinatown’s best and I’m so glad they’re back open for indoor dining! We shared spring rolls, char siu (honey roasted pork), pan fried noodles, and bacon fried rice. The spring rolls were the flakiest and crunchiest ever, the char siu was tender and flavorful, and the bacon fried rice and pan fried noodles were both highly addictive. For prior visits I’d especially enjoyed the duck and beef wrapped in scallion pancake. Can’t wait to go back!
Lau Kee is a hidden gem in a bustling area filled with flashy buildings and signs. Nestled between a restaurant and a hair salon, it may be easy to overlook at first glance. However, the sight of their roasted duck hanging in the front window is enough to catch your attention. What sets Lau Kee apart is their commitment to quality. Their roast duck and char siu are delicious and beautifully presented, with no signs of overcooking or inconsistency. Their wonton soup and shrimp dumpling soup are also highlights, filled with generous portions of vegetables. From scallion pancakes to beef chow fun to salted fish fried rice, every dish is a winner. The staff provides excellent service, with a mix of English and Chinese speakers to cater to all customers. Seating is limited, so arriving early is recommended. Overall, Lau Kee is a must-visit spot for delicious Chinese cuisine in the area. Just be aware that parking can be a challenge.
