Rifugio Helios - PONTECHIANALE

Great food and amazing views. Easy access with the ski lift from the village below. We even saw birds of prey in the sky.

We were in Pontechianale area occasionally at the end of January 2017 and seen the chairlift we decided to climb up to spend our two hours remaining in Varaita Valley... It was shown to be a very good decision as it were the best two hours spent in that day. Once arrived at the refuge we found there a gentle personnel willing to welcome our request. Even though it was past 2 pm and lacked less than two hours until the closure of the chairlift we ware pleasantly surprised to find a complet warm lunch menu so we decided to try it. Everything good... Very tasty appetizers, delicious starters and main course with typical valley products. Everything payed at a very reasonable price considering that is an isolate place at almost 2350 m altitude and have the lunch there in low season is a good ocasion. The place is orderly and clean and the serving time was optimal without downtime. I want to disavow some comments here that saying some untruths... This place obviously is not a hotel or a typical city restaurant where you expect to find everything à la carte ... it is a place where everybody 's come here and have a break after a skiing party or hiking. It is not a big place and is normal that when there are crowded of people everything 's going easy. We were lucky because there was not crowded because of low season but the place was very clean, orderly and very hospitable. I 'm not talking about the lunch that was very good and plenty. Some people maybe should stay in their city at home... not all the things can be like they want to be and that 's not mean everything they don 't like is shoddy or should be slandered. Anyway this place is amazing, advisable for hiking break and there is the best place to take a cappuccino on the terrace looking at that marvelous panorama and breathing that fresh and pure air. Thank 's for the gift of coffee cup that is a beautiful remember of our break at Refugio Helios!

Siamo stati in agosto, con una bellissima vista, facilmente raggiungibile con una seggiovia dedicata. Il pranzo non era male: l'antipasto e il cervo in umido erano eccellenti.
