Two vegan sandwich options. Great portions perfect to fill your belly after hiking at Hurricanegrat. Plus local beer and wine.
I stopped by here on a quiet Sunday night and really enjoyed the cozy atmosphere and decor. The staff were friendly and we ordered the roasted Brussels sprouts and sauerkraut balls, which were delicious. We also tried their signature Spruce Burger with a side of garlic fries, and found the burgers to be juicy and flavorful. The only downside was that the food was a bit too salty for my liking, so I recommend drinking plenty of water. Overall, it was a good experience.
My girlfriend and I were hiking out the Dungeness Sand Spit on our way to Port Angeles and hadn't eaten all day. By the time we arrived in Port Angeles, it was almost 5:30PM on a Monday, and both Sabai Thai and New Day Eatery were closed or closing. Feeling desperate, we checked Happy Cow and found The Spruce, which had one review. We discovered they offered three different vegan sandwich options, including an Impossible Burger, a housemade veggie burger, and a marinated tofu sandwich. All sandwiches could be made vegan with a pretzel bun. They also had vegan fries and a housemade vegan garlic aioli, as well as crispy fried brussels sprouts with a balsamic glaze. We decided to try all three burgers, fries, brussels sprouts, and aioli. The tofu sandwich was the winner of the three, followed by the Impossible Burger. The veggie burger, made with black bean and quinoa, was slightly overcooked and dry. The brussels sprouts were a bit overcooked for our liking, but still tasty. Overall, the food was delicious and we would definitely eat there again.
My friend and I decided to take a walk on the Dungeness Sand Spit on our way to Port Angeles and didn't eat all day. When we arrived in Port Angeles, we were starving and unfortunately Sabai Thai was closed and New Day Eatery was closed for the night. Desperate for food, we checked Happy Cow and found a review for Spruce. After looking at the menu online, we found three different sandwich options: an Impossible Burger, a homemade Veggieburger, and a marinated Tofu sandwich. The sandwiches are vegan as long as you have a vegan roll, which in this case was a bread roll. Their frits are vegan as well, and they offer homemade vegan garlic aioli. They also have crispy fried sprouts with a balsamic glaze. We tried all three burgers, fries, Brussels sprouts, and aioli. The tofu sandwich was the best, followed by the Impossible Burger. The only complaint was that the veggie burger, made with black beans and quinoa, was a bit overcooked and dry. Personally, I would have liked the Brussels sprouts to be cooked less, but they were still delicious. Overall, everything was tasty and I would definitely eat there again.
