But what was really annoying was the high-handed way in which the boss and the owner spoke to other guests when a guy said he didn't eat ham. The arrogant answer was “then only to eat it”. So don't share an afternoon tea. The guy was obviously withdrawn and then was discussed at his table among his friends. He then went to find the owners to tell them how angry he was with the way he was spoken to. This conversation was about 10 minutes of discussion for everyone in the tea room. Come with the guest of their high standards. The result was a few small triangles of egg and tuna salad sandwiches to delight him. I should have done that in the beginning. Simple and barely offered a cost considering the Puny Sandwiches on Wonderbread. I've been watching TripAdvisor ever since to see if this guy would leave a review so I could praise his challenge to the owner. I haven't made a TripAdvisor rating for years, but I feel it was necessary. Such an arrogant attitude to such an ordinary tea room. If you want a real tea room, go to Bray Robinson Tea Room in Streetsville, Ontario. We had a nice afternoon tea today, which was a wonderful standard and all homemade. Nicely presented and all employees were professional and friendly. Summerhill should make a trip to see what a real tea room does.
The food is simple, but very fresh. Service a little slow, but friendly. Loved the tea cups and old top atmosphere!
Stay here for two nights during the visit of the family in the area; our room was comfortable and the bathroom was clean and well equipped. On the second evening we enjoyed some quiet time with a glass of wine (glass immediately on our request) in the comfortable...inhabited room on the ground floor. Breakfast was superior and beautifully presented and the coffee was excellent!
Long time I wanted to make summerhill manor tee. I took the time to the birthday and stayed there. my experience was wonderful. from eating to personal. the food was delicious and fresh. absolutely beautiful! I didn't want to go.
We booked the place on the way home from Quebec. We decided to have a cozy stop over in Port Hope before we launched ourselves back into GTA reality. We arrived about 9:30 after a great meal at Bualai Thai (across the street). All was...as expected no one in sight but the key was where expected and we made out way up to a very cozy room with on suite facilities. All perfect. In the morning we had a typical breakfast in the little tea room. Very nice we did not expect inspired we got a traditional breakfast of thick whole wheat toast, eggs as desired and sausage. Our hostess Deborah, was charming. The place was for sale when we were their.
