Feedback gevenWe were visiting The Algarve for our honeymoon and had dinner at Loki, which was the highlight of our trip. It was only us and Joao, the amazing chef behind Loki. Joao does everything himself: from fish washing to prep to serving. Each of the 11 courses has a personal story for Joao. Even each ingredient used in the dishes was thoughtful, with Joao personally sourcing everything himself. The food itself was spectacular. It rivals some Michelin starred restaurants we've been to. The wine pairing was amazing as well Joao served unique wines from the region. The experience overall was nothing short of amazing. We stayed an hour away and it was well worth the drive!
A surprisingly good restaurant with a really high level of cooking all done by one man Joao who was a great host and chef and only serves one table a night which made it even more special. The wine pairing was sublime and we had the best night ever tasting all 11 dishes with local products. Very much recommend Loki if you are into high level cuisine experience. Thank you Joao!
We went for dinner on Saturday night as some gourmet friends had been recently and raved about Loki. They weren't wrong it was an incredible experience. We hadn't realised we would be the only guests that night so it was just the two of us with Joao Marreiros, a very personable and skilled chef. We had the most interesting 11 course meals served on pebbles, stones or beautiful pieces of pottery made by a friend of his. All the food was beautifully served and really set your palette tingling with the different textures and tastes. Joao is passionate about Algarve produce and loves old varieties of rice, wheat or chick peas that had been grown in the Algarve hundreds of years ago. For example, in one of the courses we were served black chick peas which were really delicious. Quite a few of the ingredients had been fermented or air dried to complement the taste what can I say, Joao is simply a maestro in the kitchen. Quite a few of the courses were fish based and we had one meat course plus 3 dessert courses, which as you would suspect were amazing. We were also offered a fantastic range of different Algarve wines and enjoyed tasting just two of them. Without a doubt we will be revisiting this incredible restaurant and will take some friends next time to share the experience with. Joao is a hard working and talented chef and deserves huge success with his venture which he opened just before Covid and the subsequent lock downs struck.
Chef de classe mundial serve comida de primeira linha! Este restaurante deveria ter uma estrela Michelin! Todos os aspectos do jantar estavam fora deste mundo, desde a apresentação até a qualidade da comida. Nada além de uma experiência espetacular.
Simplesmente fora deste mundo. É como ter um chef com estrela Michelin só para vocês. Todos de origem local, frescos ou amadurecidos em casa. Esplêndido. Merece 7 estrelas.
