Amato's - Portland

I ordered pizza and whoopie pies for dinner. I was visiting from out of town and ordered through Doordash. Despite being extremely busy, my pizza arrived warm and was delicious. The ratio of crust to toppings was just right, and it was very filling. I also tried my first whoopie pie ever, and it was amazing! I wish I had discovered this place sooner so I could have had another one before going back home. I can't wait to come back and get another one.

I absolutely adore this restaurant. The staff is fantastic, always quick when other Amatos can be a bit slow. They always get my order correct, and even provided me with a cup of filtered water to take with me.

Amato's is known for its simple yet delicious sandwiches and pizza. The portions are generous and the food is tasty, but be prepared for a bit of grease. Some of our favorite lunch options are the tuna Italian, steak and cheese, and chicken parm subs, which often leave us with leftovers. The pazzo bread and stuffers are a great value and can easily make for a satisfying meal on their own. While the wraps are good, we prefer the regular sandwiches. Prices are very reasonable, especially compared to other sandwich places in the area. The staff is busy but always friendly, and our orders have always been ready on time. There is plenty of parking at the St. John's St. location, and service is usually quick.
